Choosing the Right Pediatrician for Your New Baby

Choosing the right pediatrician for your new baby is an important decision. preventative visits

A pediatrician specializes in the care of children. Focusing on children's health and practicing with kids each day gives pediatricians an advantage when it comes to expertise on children's medical issues. But making a decision about which pediatrician to have for your new baby can be confusing.

Be sure that these credentials are attached to your pediatrician's name.

Board certified: A doctor has completed med school as well as a three-year residency in pediatrics, but a board-certified pediatrician has also passed a series of rigorous exams, which he'll routinely retake.

AAP member: Check to see if a potential doctor belongs to the American Academy of Pediatrics, which indicates that he adheres to the organization's guidelines and standards.

Why we offer Prenatal Orientation meetings.

With a new baby you’ll be visiting the doctor's office 7-8 times in the first year for routine preventative care visits. To make it easier to decide if our practice is right for you and your family, we have prenatal orientations to allow a face-to-face meeting with our providers.

These one hour casual get-togethers provide an opportunity to get to know us better, both our philosophy and the mechanics of our offices. We try to make it easy for expectant parents to learn about our practice and to get answers to their questions.

The best time to attend one of our prenatal orientations is between 28-36 weeks into your pregnancy. You can book your prenatal orientation at either one of our convenient locations in New Albany or Dublin. We encourage and welcome extended family members at the prenatal visit and thereafter.

The Prenatal Orientation Discussion Will Include:

  • Office Hours and “After Hours”
  • Emergency Calls & Visits
  • Preventative Care Visits, purpose & schedule
  • Expectations
  • Tests and procedures performed at the hospital after delivery
  • What to expect at home with your newborn
  • What the parents need to do before delivery
  • Vaccines
  • Any questions you may have
